Very simple! I was curious to see if I could just get another kombucha mother going (a friend wanted one) from some kombucha I already had made. I put a quart off kombucha in a wide mouth mason jar, covered with a cloth napkin, and put in our dark cool basement for two weeks. When I went down to check on it, a mother had ‘grown’ on the top! I put a lid on it and passed it onto a friend. Easy! And she didn’t have to wait for my kombucha to be done brewing.
